Thirty-something eyes
Bored Into me
Unbelieving
As I stood up
That one time

A boa had wrapped itself around me
I was voiceless
Struggling to breathe
As I was raised
That one time

The world tried to hold me down
With its magnetic pull
Unsuccessfully
As I was lifted
That one time

Fear gripped me
As courage tried to break free
Little by little
As I floated
That one time

Earmarked by one
Won by Another
Seeping into my soul
As I reached up
That one time

I dared to
Step out from the abyss
Into glorious light
That one time
And gained my freedom

  1. Yes, Debbie. The realisation that our freedom was heart-bought and is freely given is astounding (if one is willing to see). If only more of us would grab onto it. God bless!

  2. Freedom is a beautiful thing! We know Who to turn to. Psalm 118:5: “In my anguish I cried to the LORD, and he answered by setting me free.”
