The Mighty Tree

The mighty tree has fallen
Yet not
Tying all together
In a love knot
The ageing rings have paused
The heart has stopped
Yet beats still
At our loss

The mighty tree has fallen
Yet not
The elders hear the calling
Of Heaven’s song
The branches reaching upward
The trunk strong
Withered leaves renewed
Words at a loss

The mighty tree has fallen
Yet not
We grieve in our remembrance
We joy in song
A life that touched so many
Called to the lost
The mighty tree has fallen
Yet not

The mighty tree has fallen
Yet not
A life has been recorded
A smile gone
But etched in our memories
Never to be forgot
The mighty tree has fallen
But the love remains fervent
Strong
